The Asian River Restoration Network was established in Nov. 2006 to support the exchange of information relating to environmental restoration of rivers and watersheds. JRRN has a role of ARRN secretariat currently.

On the 11th October 2007, "Workshop on Urban River Restoration, Love River in Kaohsiung, Taiwan " was held in Tokyo under the joint sponsorship of Nihon University and JRRN.

In the regional workshop, Mr. Chi-Tze Chen, who had been working on the improvement of water environment in Kaohsiung City for more than 30 years, gave a speech on the revitalization of Love River and closely explained its background as well as the concrete content of the project. Then, Mr. Hong-Mo Wu, director general of Public Works Bureau in Kaohsiung City, presented topics on the history of Kaohsiung city's development centred on the Love River and its close relation with the citizens.

With this workshop as a start, ARRN and JRRN would like to keep close contact with the concerned parties in Kaohsiung City and continuously exchange rich and valuable information with them in order to accumulate lively information on river restoration.
